introduction

Prevention of damage to the environment has become a major challenge facing the 21st century. We owe it to future generations to leave behind a beautiful world in which all can thrive, and NTV is determined to meet its social responsibilities. The establishment of the Environmental Management Office in March 2003 to guide efforts to protect the environment has led to positive outcomes in all aspects of corporate operations from programming and advertising to sales and events. In 2004, we strengthened the business operations audit system and established a Compliance & Standards Division as part of measures to ensure sustainability (sustainable development) and further corporate governance. Furthermore, the "NTV Environmental Policy" was announced in May 2005 to systemize our environmental management efforts beginning August.

Nippon Television Network Corporation has been granted registration of the environmental management certification" ISO 14001"from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for the NTV Tower (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on November 26, 2005. The "ISO 14001" certification of an entire company is a first for any commercial broadcaster in Tokyo.

Natural resources are limited, and as environmental destruction continues, we must answer fundamental questions if we want to secure a comfortable way of life and make progress on social development for our future generations. What needs to be done? What is the role of the industry?
At NTV we seek to manage our operations in ways that incorporate consideration for the environment and for society. Our goal is to support sustainability of the earth, of society and of our business.
