Introduction :
Hiroya Oku's masterpiece "GANTZ" has been serialized in a weekly comic magazine, YOUNG JUMP (SHUEISHA Inc.), since 2000.
Summoned by the mysterious black orb known as 'GANTZ', people who are supposed to be dead are coerced into participating in the extermination of 'aliens'... The comic has strong charismatic popularity, thanks to the unique story, selling over 16 million copies of the 27 volumes. They are also published in 12 territories, including main Asian, European countries, and US.
Due to the intense action and strikingly original story, a movie adaptation was once considered impossible. However, after NTV led the adaptations of "DEATH NOTE" and "20th Century Boys" to success, a movie adaptation of "GANTZ" became possible with the director, Shinsuke Sato, and two talented actors, Kazunari Ninomiya ("Letters from Iwo Jima") and Kenichi Matsuyama ("DEATH NOTE," "Norwegian Wood"). Story :
College student Kurono (Kazunari Ninomiya) witnesses his childhood friend Kato (Kenichi Matsuyama) attempting to help a drunk who has fallen onto the subway train tracks and spontaneously jumps in to help him. However, both are run down by the oncoming train...

In the next instant, they are transported to a strange apartment with others who should also be dead. In the center of the living room is an enigmatic black orb known as 'GANTZ'.

GANTZ enlists each of them on a mission to hunt down and exterminate 'aliens', providing them with fighting suits and weapons.
Is this a world of game or reality? Seeing people and aliens slaughtering each other, Kato is anguished, but Kurono gradually feels satisfied as he discovers his fighting ability...
