New Year's Message from the President

I wish you all a happy New Year.

In 2015, for the second consecutive year, Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV) captured the annual viewer ratings Triple Crown title by topping the charts in the All Day, Golden Time, and Prime Time categories. I would like to extend my most sincere gratitude to our many viewers who supported our programs.

Because we place great importance in providing our viewers with a programming schedule that is easy to integrate into daily life, we work hard to ensure that our regular programs form the core of our timetable. That said, we also recognize the power of delivering special programs such last year's "Rugby World Cup 2015," which truly gripped the entire country. Your support for our non-broadcasting endeavors in 2015 also propelled our events and movies to success. The art exhibition "Impressionist Masterpieces from Marmottan Monet Museum," which featured masterpieces such as Impression, Sunrise and Water Lilies, was attended by 760,000 people. The movie "The Boy and the Beast" became a huge hit and captivated 4.6 million viewers.

With Nippon TV at the core, the Nippon TV group continued to grow its various businesses. At a time when many companies in Japan and the rest of the world are entering the online video streaming business, our very own Hulu successfully produced an original drama and saw its subscriber base increase to well over a million members. TIPNESS, our fitness club operator, contributed significantly to our programming campaign "Week of the Body," which featured content under the concept of "Vigorous Japan! Be Healthy!" The entire Nippon TV group is indeed creating synergistic effects by stepping beyond the realms of broadcasting and staying true to its commitment of becoming a company that provides enriching experiences. On the international business front, we made great strides by successfully establishing a joint venture in Singapore and launching GEM, our first overseas pay TV channel, which now provides services in Asia.

In 2016, we mark the fifth year since the Great East Japan Earthquake. We will begin constructing our new studios in Tokyo's prime Kojimachi district to fulfill our mission of being a media company that delivers news under any circumstances. At the same time, this is the first step in our project to redevelop Kojimachi, the place where it all began for Nippon TV.

We at Nippon TV, as well as all the companies in the group, vow to continue taking our core business of content broadcasting to greater heights, as we leverage each other's expertise and work tirelessly to contribute to the creation of an even more appealing Japanese culture and help raise quality of life.

I ask for your continued support of Nippon TV and all the group companies for this year and beyond.

Sincerely,

Yoshio Okubo
