Govt funds new ‘Fukushima revival brigade’

Hard-hit areas of Fukushima, Japan are getting some help from the nation.

Japan is backing a new “Fukushima revival brigade” to help towns that suffered in the 2011 meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Japan will fund the employment of workers for towns that are having trouble finding candidates.

If hired, they’ll work in towns including Okuma and Futaba that lost much of their population in the disaster.

Prospective workers attended a seminar today (Monday) in Tokyo.

One man said he wanted to contribute wherever he was needed.

More than three years after the meltdowns, thousands of people in Fukushima remain unable to return home.
