"Anpanman" Officially Registered in Guinness Book of World Records

NTV is proud to announce that the animation program "Anpanman," which is currently on air weekly on NTV, has been officially registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most number of characters in an animation series.

The official registration in the Guinness Book of World Records is as follows:

`The most characters in an animation series are found in Anpanman, written by Takashi Yanase (Japan), which features 1,768 different characters, as of June 2009.`

This record includes the 1,768 characters which have appeared in the animation series "Anpanman" from the first episode broadcast on October 3rd, 1988 to the episode broadcast on March 27th, 2009. (Number of characters also includes characters appearing in the 20 "Anpanman" feature films.) With the weekly episodes since April 2009 and new summer movie "Anpanman - Dadandanto Futagono Hoshi," the number of characters is continuing to grow, and on August 28th, the 1000th episode of "Anpanman" is scheduled to be broadcast on NTV.
