ACMA:GAME TO STREAM ON PRIME VIDEO

NIPPON TV'S NEW LARGE SCALE SURVIVAL ACTION-DRAMA SERIES
ACMA:GAME
TO STREAM ON PRIME VIDEO JAPAN STARTING APRIL 7
WITH GLOBAL STREAMING TO FOLLOW ON APRIL 26

DEAL MARKS NIPPON TV'S FIRST GLOBAL DEAL WITH STREAMER

TOKYO, JAPAN - March 18, (9am France) 2024 -Nippon TV, Japan's leading multiplatform entertainment powerhouse, announced today that Prime Video will distribute Nippon TV's highly anticipated large scale survival action thriller series ACMA:GAME (“AK-muh” Game). The series will stream on Prime Video Japan starting April 7th, immediately after Nippon TV's Sunday primetime air slot, with global streaming of the series to follow on all APV outlets on April 26th. Hulu Japan will also stream the series immediately after Nippon TV's broadcast.

ACMA:GAME is based on the popular manga of the same name written by Meeb (Brave Bell) and illustrated by Koji Megumi (Bloody Monday), which was serialized on Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2013 to 2017.

ACMA:GAME takes place in a devil's world where the challenge is to conquer the world by collecting 99 devil's keys. Players are forced to participate, and if they lose, they cannot refuse any orders. The protagonist challenges the game risking his life, along with the people who are being manipulated by the devil's key. They must unravel the mystery hidden in the devil's key in order to survive. The word ACMA is derived from the Japanese world akuma which means devil.

"Japan is known for exhilarating manga, but this one is exceptional. It's a top-notch youth story, and above all, the game master is a devil.” Commented Naoto Fujimura, Producer, Nippon TV. “Audiences crave psychological death game battles like Kaiji, DEATH NOTE or Squid Game, and after spending more than a year refining the series with scriptwriter Yoshihiro Izumi and Nippon TV's director Toya Sato (Kaiji), joined with world-class VFX company Digital Frontier (Nippon TV movies DEATH NOTE, GANTZ), ACMA:GAME has become a production of an incredible scale that Nippon TV will deliver to the world with confidence.  Shotaro Mamiya who plays the leading role is an actor with unfathomable talent that is perfect to portray this epoch-making series that will surely thrill the global audience.”

"We are honored to be able to stream ACMA:GAME on Prime Video, which will be broadcast on Nippon TV from April," said Takashi Kodama, country director, Prime Video Japan. "We also feel responsible and very excited to bring this title to over 150 countries around the world for Prime Video customers. I am looking forward to seeing how the first-class creators and production team of Japan will present the gripping psychological battles and human characters of ACMA:GAME in high quality. We believe many customers in Japan and around the world will enjoy this fresh content on our service."

This deal was brokered by Keisuke Miyata, Head of Sales, Global Business, Nippon TV.

ACMA:GAME follows the journey of a young man raised by a single father following the tragic loss of his mother. As a young boy, his father entrusted him with an old key called the “devils key”. Immediately after receiving the key his father was mysteriously killed right in front of his eyes. Using his father's wisdom as a guiding light, he sets out to unveil the secret to the devil's key to uncover what led to his father's death. Through his pursuit, he learns that if he obtains more than 99 keys his luck will grow, and he could have anything in the world. Thirteen years later, he returns to his home in Japan to avenge his father's death. Risking his life in the deadly mind game known as ACMA:GAME, he confronts his rivals also seeking the devil's key, discovering that the game is a dangerous battle of life or death.
