TOKYO, JAPAN - August 27, 2020 - Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV), Japan's leading multiplatform entertainment powerhouse, announced today that Nippon TV group has acquired the rights for the Japanese broadcast and streaming rights of the Turkish drama series Anne, a remake of its very own award-winning drama series Mother. It will air on BS Nippon TV, a channel operated by Nippon TV's group company BS Nippon Corporation, a free to air satellite channel, and also on Hulu in Japan, starting 3rd September 2020. BS Nippon TV has already aired the hit Korean remake version, gaining high viewership, and this will be the first time that the Turkish version will be shown on the satellite channel.

The combination of broadcast and its immediate steaming is a successful route to gain maximum viewer appeal. The Turkish version of Mother is expected to attract not only fans of the Japanese version of Mother but also new fans by implementing this approach.

"This is the first time that a Japanese TV drama has made such a global leap; I am so proud that Mother has now become one of the most exported scripted formats out of Asia. We realized that the problems of modern society and values of family are universal themes," commented Hisashi Tsugiya, Producer, Production Division at Nippon TV. "Anne was the first remake of Mother, and it took Turkish production landscape to the next level with this completely new genre, quality production, powerful actors, and gripping storyline. Turkish drama is still relatively unavailable yet here in Japan and I am so happy that we are now able to watch the series on BS Nippon TV and Hulu in Japan. I was so impressed with Anne, especially on the second half of the season, which included an original storyline and expanded the theme furthermore. I am confident that our viewers will be hooked."

"We are very happy and excited that Anne is going to be shown in Japan, its country of origin, after being very successful all around the world from South America to Asia. We sincerely hope that the Japanese audience will watch Anne with great pleasure," commented Mr. Fatih Aksoy, CEO, Medyapim.

Anne, after its mega success in Turkey, received the 2019 honorable award from Turkey's Services Exporters' Association for the Most Exported TV Series of the Year in 2018. Anne is now distributed in over 40 countries globally and continues to spark interest among international buyers.
