ACQUIRED FOR GREEK ADAPTATION BY ALPHA TV AND
SET TO PREMIERE ON OCTOBER 7TH

New deal follows previous adaption by Alpha TV of Nippon TV's “Mother"
which went on to become Greece's #1 drama "Na me les mama"

TOKYO / ATHENS - October 5th, 2026 - Nippon TV, Japan's leading multiplatform entertainment powerhouse, and Alpha TV, the leading national television broadcaster in Greece, jointly announced today that the Greek adaptation of its acclaimed drama series Woman -My Life for My Children- will premiere on Alpha TV and will stream on Alpha TV's HbbTV platform beginning October 7th. The announcement was made today by Sally Yamamoto, Scripted Format Sales & Licensing at Nippon TV, and Christos Kompos, Program Director of Alpha TV.

The upcoming Greek series, titled Mia Gyneka (A Woman), is based on Nippon TV's Woman -My Life for My Children-, which was produced by the creators of Asia's most exported scripted format* Mother, with Cannes Film Festival award winner Yuji Sakamoto as the script writer and Hisashi Tsugiya from Nippon TV as the producer. The series tells a heart-gripping story of a single mother's unconditional love for her children and her economic plight in a harsh reality. By depicting issues of family and poverty through a story of parental love, the series sparked widespread discussion and deep emotion during its original run. *According to K7 Media's 2026 research report.

This new remake on Alpha TV follows the highly successful Greek adaptation of Nippon TV's award-winning format Mother, titled Na me les mama (Call me mom), which premiered on Alpha TV. Produced by Greece's Filmiki, the Greek version of Mother marked the first time a Nippon TV script was adapted in Greece, raising awareness around emotional and poignant social issues and captivating audiences across the country. The series achieved outstanding ratings success on Alpha TV, averaging a 20.0% audience share among total viewers and 17.3% among adults aged 18-54 across its eight episodes, ranking No. 1 in its timeslot in both audiences. The finale, broadcast on October 23rd, 2025, delivered a 21.8% share among total viewers and 18.8% among adults aged 18-54, attracting an average of 880,000 viewers.

Sally Yamamoto, Scripted Format Sales & Licensing at Nippon TV, commented:
"Following the success of the Greek adaptation of Mother, we are delighted to continue our collaboration with Alpha TV on Woman -My Life for My Children-. While Mother and Woman both tell powerful stories centered on women, they explore female strength from very different perspectives. Woman is a moving portrayal of dignity and a mother's determination to protect her family in the face of hardship. Alpha TV has assembled an outstanding creative team, and we are excited to see how they will bring their own unique vision to this story for Greek audiences."

Christos Kompos, Program Director, Alpha TV, added:
"Great television is driven by characters who refuse to give up. Nippon TV has delivered a deeply affecting narrative anchored by a fiercely strong, multidimensional female lead. At Alpha, our focus was to take this brilliant foundation and organically weave it into our culture. By grounding her everyday struggles and undeniable resilience in a distinctly Greek context, we are introducing a character we know will immediately and profoundly resonate with our prime-time viewers. "

The scripted format of Woman has already seen successful adaptations in other major international markets. Its Turkish version, Kadin, produced by Medyapim in 2017, achieved phenomenal success, lasting for three full seasons (81 episodes in total) and has been distributed in over 60 countries. Most recently, the Arabic adaptation, Salma, also produced by Medyapim, premiered on MBC1 and the Shahid streaming platform in 2025, to stellar reception across the Middle East and North Africa.
