M6.6 quake hits Ehime, Kochi -western Japan prefectures


An earthquake of M6.6 hit Ehime and Kochi, the western part of Japan.

At around 11:14 p.m. on april 17th in Japanese time, an earthquake centered in the Bungo Channel occurred and Ehime and Kochi prefectures were hit by an earthquake with an intensity of just under 6 on the Japanese seismic scale.Ehime and Koochi are prefectures in Shikoku,south of Osaka. 

There was no tsunami caused by the quake.

Japan Meteorological Agency said in the press conference that the earthquake occurred within the assumed epicenter of the Nankai Trough and that the possibility of the occurrence of a huge earthquake has not increased.
