Man arrested for theft of Gold teacup says he went in and out of venue" To Steal More"

A 32-year-old man was arrested on April 13 in suspiction of stealing a pure gold teacup worth about 10.4 million yen at an exhibition and sales event held at Nihombashi Takashimaya department store on April 11.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, about 30 minutes after the incident, the suspect left the department store and took the subway from Nihombashi Station to Kiba Station.

An investigative source revealed that the man has told the police that he went back in and out of the exhibition venue to see if he can steal more items. He also said he took the teacup because it caught his attention and the case moved.

Police said on April 15 that the suspect sold the teacup for 1.8 million yen at a secondhand shop, and then sold again to another secondhand shop but that the teacup has been found.
