Princess Kako visits Emperor Showa's mausoleum ahead of trip to Greece

Princess Kako visited Emperor Showa's mausoleum in the Tokyo suburbs on May 9.

She paid her respects at the tombs of her great-grandfather and his wife Empress Kojun.

Members of the imperial family customarily go to the Musashi imperial mausoleum before and after making overseas trips.

Kako is scheduled to travel to Greece for about a week starting May 25.

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Greece.

It has also been designated as the year of culture and tourism between the two countries.

This is the third trip abroad for Kako and the first since she traveled to Peru in November last year.
