Imperial couple to visit quake-affected Noto Peninsula again

The Kishida Cabinet approved on April 9 that Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako will again visit two towns in Ishikawa Prefecture damaged by the Noto Peninsula earthquake on April 12.

The Imperial couple will head to Noto Airport on a special plane, transfer to a Self-Defense Forces helicopter, inspect the damaged areas and then visit evacuees at an evacuation center.

If the helicopter cannot fly due to bad weather, it will be postponed to the next day.

According to the Imperial Household Agency, the Imperial couple is concerned not only about Wajima and Suzu, which they visited on March 22, but also about other areas.

It was decided that the couple will visit Anamizu and Noto, where the damage is severe.
