Students aim for record noodle run

Locals in western Japan are cooling down with the world’s longest noodle run.

Nagashi-somen is a way to eat cold somen noodles from a long piece of bamboo.

It’s a traditional method for beating the heat in Japan.

High school students in Kumamoto Prefecture are trying to build the world’s longest nagashi-somen run.

They connected 350 pieces of bamboo over more than 3.3 kilometers.

The event is also a way to dispose of the excess bamboo infesting the area.

Only one noodle survived the 80-minute course.

But the students are still aiming for a Guinness World Record.
