4K TV launches next month

Viewers in Japan will get to watch the World Cup in super high definition 4K TV.

Japan’s 4K TV broadcasts will be the first in the world when they launch June 2.

Communications Minister Yoshitaka Shindo today (Tuesday) announced the broadcasts on Channel 4K.

The channel will offer six hours of viewing per day, and final preparations are reportedly being made to offer the World Cup.

Viewers will need special 4K sets and tuners to watch the broadcasts.
