Government goes on health kick

Japan’s Economy Ministry today launched a project to encourage people to lose weight and get healthy.

The project involves recipes provided by health device maker Tanita.

The firm operates restaurants in Japan selling the same healthy food served in its cafeteria.

Economy Minister Toshimitsu Motegi had the low-calorie fare for lunch.

Timers encouraged people to take at least 20 minutes to eat.

Ministry workers are also aiming for better health by using balance balls instead of chairs.

This man says he thinks he’s put on muscle.

Officials hope their efforts will encourage workers at firms and municipalities nationwide to be healthier.

The project aims to reduce the number of people with high blood pressure and cholesterol in Japan.
