Obama embraces Japanese science and culture

U.S. President Barack Obama got a taste of both Japan’s hi-tech present and its ancient past on Thursday.

The museum known as “Miraikan” focuses on cutting-edge science.

Staff and visiting high school students welcomed the president.

Obama even got a video message from the international space station.

He also played soccer with Asimo, a humanoid robot developed by Honda.

In a speech, President Obama stressed the importance of cooperation between Japan and the U.S. on science and technology.

He then visited Meiji Shrine and viewed Yabusame, a type of traditional mounted archery.
