Photographers snap ‘diamond Fuji’

Photographers and nature lovers flocked to the foot of Japan’s iconic Mt. Fuji this morning to witness the sun rising directly above its summit.

The phenomenon is known as “Diamond Fuji.” It can be observed twice a year, in March and October, from this particular location in Yamanashi Prefecture.

More than 150 people were on location at 6:30 AM to capture the exact moment the sun rose above the summit.

Mt. Fuji was added last year to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites.
