Tokyo digs out from hailstorm

People in Tokyo are digging out from a hailstorm that covered parts of the city in a thick layer of ice yesterday.

In some areas the hail was tens of centimeters deep.

Authorities responded to over 50 reports of flood damage.

A resident says this is the first time he’s seen a hailstorm like this in forty years in Tokyo.

Japanese weather officials are warning of the possibility of more hail and even tornadoes due to continued atmospheric instability.
