Two Japanese restaurants place among world’s top 50

Two Japanese chefs are happy today.

Their restaurants received coveted listings in “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2014.”

The well-known prize is considered the Academy Awards of the culinary industry.

An award ceremony took place in London.

Over 900 voters including some of the world’s most famous chefs selected restaurants for the awards.

Two Japanese restaurants were chosen for the honor.

One of them is French eatery Narisawa, which is ranked No.14.

Japanese restaurant Nihonryori RyuGin came in at No.33.

Narisawa chef Yoshihiro Narisawa said he was delighted.

His restaurant has been on the list six years in a row.
