Princess Aiko arrived at Osaka Itami Airport shortly after 11 a.m. on August 20 and was greeted by Osaka Governor Yoshimura Hirofumi.

The princess is visiting the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka to view a special exhibition on 17th-century Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring” before attending its opening ceremony.

In June this year, her father Emperor Naruhito viewed the masterpiece in The Hague during his official visit to the Netherlands.

This is Aiko’s first visit to Osaka since her trip to the World Expo last year.

This time, she is also scheduled to travel to nearby Shiga Prefecture.
