Typhoon Peipah lands on southwestern Japan and approaches Tokyo
Typhoon Peipah made landfall on Kochi Prefecture in southwestern Japan in the early hours of September 5.
The typhoon advanced east along the coast of central Japan and is expected to pass through the capital towards the Pacific Ocean by evening.
Storm clouds have formed across eastern Japan and even in some areas of northeastern Japan further away from the typhoon.
Central and eastern Japan will experience torrential rainfall and thunder throughout the afternoon.
Prefectures in eastern and central Japan are forecasted to measure 200 and 150 millimeters of rain, respectively, by September 6 noon.
A linear precipitation band will form in the region and the likelihood of rain disasters will increase significantly.
