Princess Aiko begins solo Osaka Expo visit

Princess Aiko, the daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, arrived at Itami Airport on May 8 for her first visit to Expo 2025 in Osaka.

Dressed in white, she smiled to those who greeted her.

She is scheduled to visit the Japan Pavilion, the Grand Roof Circle, and the Electric Power Pavilion at the Expo site located in Yumeshima.

She will also visit the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Pavilion, operated by the Japanese Red Cross Society where she works, and meet with staff.

Her itinerary for May 9 includes the EXPO Arena, the Singapore Pavilion, the Commons-A joint pavilion, and the EARTH MART pavilion, which focuses on food.

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, along with Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko, attended the opening ceremony of the Expo on April 12, where the Emperor delivered a speech.

This visit to Osaka is Princess Aiko's first solo official duty visit since her visit to Saga Prefecture for the National Sports Festival last October.
