In Hakone Town,of Kanagawa Prefecture, as the number of tourists increases, the capacity of trash bins has become insufficient.
In response, “smart trash bins” that can automatically compress waste have been newly installed.
At near Lake Ashi, the tourist destination of Hakone Town, “smart trash bins.” were installed.
Smart trash bins automatically compress waste once it reaches a certain level, and also allow users to check the amount of trash via the cloud they have.
In the tourist destination, Hakone, due to the increase of tourists, trash has increased as well, and conventional trash bins no longer had enough capacity, resulting in trash being scattered around the area.
The smart trash bins, donated by Odakyu Hakone, can hold approximately five times more trash than conventional bins.
Hakone Town expressed hope, saying:
“Waste management is an extremely important issue. This will be a major step forward in maintaining the cleanliness of Hakone Town moving forward.”
