Second-in-line Prince Hisahito rehearses for coming-of-age ceremony
Prince Hisahito and his parents Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko attended a rehearsal at the Imperial Palace for his upcoming coming-of-age ceremony.
The prince is the nephew of Emperor Naruhito and second-in-line to the Chrysanthemum throne.
The four-hour rehearsal on September 3 included run throughs of events and rituals that will be held at the palace and the three Imperial Palace Sanctuaries.
Hisahito had his first rehearsal on August 28, but this is the first time his parents joined.
The last time a coming-of-age ceremony was held for a male member of the imperial family was 40 years ago for Crown Prince Fumihito in November 1985.
Prince Hisahito turned 18 and became an adult member of the imperial household in 2024, but his coming-of-age ceremony was set for his 19th birthday to prioritize his transition from high school to university.
