Nuclear Regulation Authority employee loses work phone in China

News came out on January 6 that an employee of the Nuclear Regulation Authority lost their work smartphone in China in November 2025.

The phone reportedly contained the names and contact information of nuclear security staff members, which have not been publicly disclosed.

Currently there is no evidence of misuse.

The Nuclear Regulation Authority has reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission due to potential information leakage.

Social media users have voiced concerns as relations between the two countries soured after Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae made comments regarding Taiwan in November 2025.
