Over 300 public-private cooperation projects between Japan and Africa unveiled
Officials announced more than 300 economic cooperation projects involving the public and private sectors of Japan and Africa.
The projects were unveiled on August 21 at the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development, or TICAD 9, taking place in Yokohama, southeast of central Tokyo.
Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru made remarks at TICAD 9's Public-Private Business Dialogue held on the second day of the three-day event.
S/ Ishiba Shigeru, Japanese Prime Minister / More than 300 cooperation documents, over triple the number at the previous TICAD 8, were presented. This demonstrates that this many Japanese companies are committed to cooperating in building Africa’s future.
In bilateral talks, Japan and Kenya exchanged a document in which Tokyo promises to guarantee loans to the African country by Japanese private financial institutions.
Through the arrangement, Japan is hoping to promote the expansion of its car manufacturing and other industries to Kenya.
In the Public-Private Business Dialogue, Ishiba said that Japan, as a trusted partner of Africa, will continue to accelerate the current momentum of cooperation.
