Princess Aiko attends Chiba University nursing school's 50th anniversary

Princess Aiko attended a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Chiba University’s School of Nursing on December 14.

After congratulating officials on the milestone when she arrived, she delivered remarks during the event held in Chiba, east of Tokyo.

S/ Princess Aiko / I would like to express my deep respect for the contributions to the development of nursing and nursing science in our country and for the efforts of all those involved. Since childhood, I have occasionally witnessed nurses’ accurate judgment and their flexible responses that consider the intentions of those they care for, and I have felt the greatness of nurses in their sincere attitude of supporting both the mind and body of their patients.

The princess also expressed hope for continued efforts toward further advancement in nursing and nursing science.

Aiko is the only child of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako and turned 24 years old early this month.
