9th-grader arrested after stabbing random 84YO to death
Residents in the City of Chiba were shocked to know the perpetrator of a homicide that took place on the street on May 11.

A 9th grader living in the city was arrested on May 12 on suspicion of homicide that took place in a residential area nearby on May 11.
Reporter / Forensic work is being conducted by investigators at the crime scene.
Local resident / There were five to six police officers inspecting the road. They were using light and washing the blood off.
The incident took place on a street in the City of Chiba.

What appeared to be blood stains remained on the street.
An 84-year-old female local living nearby was killed here.
Police received a report from a passerby on May 11 saying that an elderly woman was lying on the street, unconscious and not breathing.
The passerby also said that she was bleeding from the side of her head.
The victim was stabbed in her back. She was later pronounced dead.
Police were investigating the case as homicide. A day later…

The teenager who was arrested on suspicion of stabbing the victim’s back to death is believed to have not known the victim. He has told officers that “it could have been anyone.”
Acquaintances of the victim were in shock.
Acquaintance of victim / She was a calm and quiet person. I used to see her when I would go shopping. We walk this street when we go shopping.
The victim might have been attacked when she went out in the evening.
According to police, a security camera near the scene showed a person believed to be the suspect just before the victim was found.
The teenager has admitted to charges.
Police are further investigating the case including his motive.
