M5.7 quake shakes Kyushu and Shikoku, in southwestern Japan

 

 

The earthquake estimated to be a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck parts of Kyushu and Shikoku, in southwestern Japan at around 6:01 PM  (9:01GMT) on November 25. 

 

Japan’s Meteorological Agency says there is no risk of tsunami. 

 

The strongest shaking, which was upper 5 on Japan’s seismic scale of 7, was observed in Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture. 

 

Shindo 5 lower was recorded in western Oita, followed by Shindo 4 in the Kumamoto region and Shindo 3 across parts of Oita, Ehime, Fukuoka, Saga, and Miyazaki prefectures. 

 

Authorities say there are no immediate reports of major damage.
