PM Ishiba intends to convey message to mark 80 years since end of war

Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru/ I would like to think about how we can prevent war while considering the messages from the 50 years, 60 years, and 70 years anniversary.

Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru said on August 6 that reiteration is a valuable part of recognizing history and that he will follow previous prime minister messages that have been approved by cabinet up until now.

He then said he would like to look over past messages and think on how to prevent war from happening again.

The prime minister is not expected to share his message on August 15 when the war ended in Japan as his predecessors have done and is considering a later appropriate date.
