Taiwanese development minister comments on Nissan and Hon Hai partnership

Liu Chin-Ching, Minister of Taiwan’s National Development Council, commented in an exclusive interview in Tokyo on the potential partnership between Nissan Motor and Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry.

S/ Liu Chin-Ching, Minister of National Development Council/ Once Hon Hai makes its decision, they immediately move into action with full force. I believe that work style is what led Hon Hai to achieve their current success. Hon Hai is very focused on the field of EV so I think they are interested in accessing Nissan’s excellent technology. It would be a win-win relationship if Nissan’s vehicle technology merges with Hon Hai’s digital engineering.

However, Liu said that if industry cultures do not align, the partnership will not be as successful.

The minister has previous business experience as an executive of global business services at IBM Taiwan.

Hon Hai, globally known as Foxconn, acquired Japanese electronics company Sharp in 2016 and manufactures Apple iPhones.
