Emperor and family view exhibit of Louvre's Renaissance works at Tokyo museum
Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako and their daughter Princess Aiko visited the National Art Center in Tokyo on the evening of November 4.
They viewed the Louvre exhibition featuring about 50 Renaissance masterpieces from the French museum.
The works include the portrait of a woman by Leonardo da Vinci.
The family heard an explanation about a tapestry created in the early 16th century and how fashionable styles for women spread through such works during that period.
Officials said the emperor remarked that such moves reflect the spread of the Renaissance.
At the end of their visit to the museum, Princess Aiko told the researcher who gave them a guided tour that she learned a great deal.
The Louvre exhibition at the National Art Center will run through December 13.
