Takaichi Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan: We wish to build solid cooperative relationships and trust with key leaders for the sake of regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

Prime Minister Takaichi arrived in South Korea at around 3:00PM.

The APEC Leaders' Meeting begins on October 31, but later on October 30, Takaichi is scheduled to hold her first summit meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.

Japan-South Korea relations continue to improve, with the two leaders' reciprocal visits establishing a pattern of shuttle diplomacy.

At the talks, it is expected that both sides will confirm their commitment to maintaining this momentum for improved relations.

One senior government official expressed confidence in the summit, saying they are not concerned and that even with the change of administration, the trend towards maintaining good relations has been firmly established.

Takaichi is also arranging to hold her first meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on October 31.

The two leaders are expected to confirm their policy of promoting a strategic mutually beneficial relationship between Japan and China.
