Princesses visit Kagawa's Naoshima island for art festival
Crown Princess Kiko and her daughter Princess Kako visited Naoshima, also known as an art island, in Kagawa Prefecture on October 2.
The princesses visited the Benesse House Museum that blends the serene views of the Seto Inland Sea with outdoor exhibits featuring photographs of horizons taken around the world.
Architect Ando Tadao, who designed the museum, explained the features of the facility to the guests.
Naoshima island is one of the host areas of the Setouchi Triennale, an international art festival held once every three years.
Later in the day, Kiko and Kako took a boat to Takamatsu port in the capital of Kagawa Prefecture.
There they viewed artworks while comparing them with historical photographs of the port.
Kiko is the wife of Crown Prince Fumihito of Akishino, the younger brother of Emperor Naruhito and first in line to the Chrysanthemum throne.
