Emperor Naruhito speaks at Nagasaki peace culture festival

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako attended the opening ceremony for the Nagasaki peace culture festival, the dual National Cultural Festival and National Arts and Culture Festival for Persons with Disabilities on September 14.

S/ Emperor Naruhito/ It is highly profound that the National Cultural Festival and National Arts and Culture Festival for Persons with Disabilities are held this year in Nagasaki, which marked 80 years since the atomic bomb and welcomed people who participate in various cultural art activities in various regions. I sincerely respect the efforts of all related parties.

The emperor and empress watched a stage performance that depicted Nagasaki’s history and hope for peace in song and acting.

They later spoke to the high school peace ambassador, saying it was wonderful to gain many experiences and to be careful of his health as he continued his work.

The imperial couple concluded their three-day trip to Nagasaki and returned to Tokyo that night.
