Japan Emperor, Empress host tea party for recipients of culture awards

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako hosted a tea party at the Imperial Palace for recipients of the Order of Culture and Persons of Cultural Merit on November 4.

Attendees included Order of Culture recipients Oh Sadaharu, a world-record home run hitter, and this year's Nobel Prize laureate Kitagawa Susumu.

Kakizoe Tadao, the President of the Japan Cancer Society and the recipient of Persons of Cultural Merit, was also among the participants.

Emperor Naruhito expressed his congratulations saying that he was truly happy for their significant accomplishments in the fields of academia, culture, arts, and sports through their dedicated efforts.

When Emperor Naruhito mentioned the Dodgers to Oh, the baseball legend said that baseball was gaining momentum thanks to Ohtani Shohei.

Princess Aiko and Princess Kako spoke with Person of Cultural Merit and voice actor Nozawa Masako, known for her work in the anime Dragon Ball.  

Princess Kako asked her about a variety of different characters she played in her career.
