Japan's iconic summer dance festival, Yosakoi kicks off
The city of Kochi in southwestern Japan was filled with excitement as the 72nd Annual Yosakoi Festival kicked off on August 10.
Yosakoi dancing is highly energetic and combines traditional Japanese dance movements with colorful costumes and modern music.
Spectators and dancers from across Japan flocked to the event, with 188 teams and approximately 18,000 dancers participating this year.
The main festival began at 16 competition and performance venues throughout the city, where teams performed beautiful dances accompanied by the sound of naruko clappers.
From the start of the festival, large crowds gathered at the venue in front of Kochi Station to enjoy the Yosakoi performances.

The main festival was held over two days on August 10 and 11, with the national competition and after-party being held on August 12.
