Storehouses burn down in fire possibly caused by hot weather in Aichi
The temperature in Aichi reached a nationwide high of 40 degrees Celsius on August 31.
In the central Japanese prefecture, there was a fire that may have been caused by the heat.
The fire broke out at about 1 p.m. on the premises of a company that buys iron scraps in the city of Toyohashi.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze about three hours later.
Officials said a one-story wooden warehouse and a two-story reinforced concrete storehouse burned down.
No one was injured.
Authorities said one of the possible causes of the fire is spontaneous combustion due to hot weather.
The temperature rose to 36.6 degrees Celsius in Toyohashi on August 31, the highest in the city so far this year.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
