Five teens arrested over alleged assault and extortion attempt based on ChatGPT advice

Tokyo police have arrested five teenagers, including a 17-year-old female high school student, for allegedly assaulting a male high school student, who was her former boyfriend.

Police said the incident took place in January this year in the western Tokyo suburb of Hachioji.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the five suspects are believed to have assaulted and injured the victim, accusing him of touching the body of the girl's younger sister.

They also allegedly attempted to extort money from him.

Investigators believe that one of the suspects asked ChatGPT about sexual offense against a child, and the AI responded that the minimum settlement amount would be 150,000 yen.

The suspects apparently demanded that amount from the victim.

The girl and three others have admitted to the allegations, while the remaining suspect has denied part of the accusations.
