390 people became stranded on August 9 after a landslide swept away a bridge on a road leading to a trailhead in Nagano Prefecture.

The landslide occurred on a prefectural road in Hotaka-Ariake, Azumino City.

According to Nagano Prefecture, rainfall in the area exceeded the threshold for traffic restrictions on August 8, prompting officials to close the road at 8:30PM.

A debris flow on August 9 swept away the Kurokawa Bridge that crossed the prefectural road.

The mudslide temporarily cut off about 390 people, including guests staying at three facilities such as hot spring inns and mountain huts.

Officials installed a temporary bridge for pedestrians at around 3:30PM on August 9.

No immediate casualties were reported from the incident.
