Sagrada Familia's main tower finally completed

The central tower of Spain’s Sagrada Familia basilica has been completed ahead of a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of architect Antoni Gaudi’s death.

Known as the Tower of Jesus Christ, the structure is crowned with a cross and reaches a height of 172.2 meters, making the basilica the tallest church in the world.

Construction of the Sagrada Familia began in 1882 and has continued for more than 140 years, earning it a reputation as one of the world’s most famous unfinished churches.

On June 10, the anniversary of Gaudi’s death, Pope Leo XIV is expected to attend a Mass and ceremony of the architect’s passing.
