Kanazawa festival fires up with warrior procession in historical reenactment
The historic parade of the Hyakumangoku Festival was held on June 7 in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture in central Japan.
The festival commemorates the first lord of the Kaga region Maeda Toshiie.
Performances such as marching bands, lion dances, and traditional ladder stunts entertained the crowds.
Actress Kitano Kie played the role of Toshiie’s wife Omatsu in a historical reenactment.

Kiriko, the iconic festival floats of Noto Peninsula, were carried at the rear of the festival procession by students and alumni from a local high school.
They paraded through the streets of Kanazawa, praying for the recovery of their quake-hit hometown.
