Ishiba and Modi meet in Tokyo over security, economy, people exchanges

Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru met with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Tokyo on August 29.

The two leaders are expected to agree to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of fields including security, economy and people exchanges.

Ishiba and Modi plan to revise the joint declaration on security cooperation between their countries for the first time in 17 years.

In the area of economy, the two sides are working on setting a target of 10 trillion yen in private investment from Japan to India in the coming 10 years.

They are also expected to discuss efforts toward active exchanges of human resources between the two countries.

Ishiba and Modi are set to formulate a joint vision that will indicate the direction of bilateral cooperation over the coming decade.
