S/ Man in car / Wow.
S/ Woman in car / Are there any cars behind?
S/ Man in car / They’re piglets!
S/ Woman in car / Don’t hit them. Be careful. Careful, all right?
A group of wild boars was seen walking in the middle of a road in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, in the wee hours of October 13.
They may be a family, with an adult boar leading the way followed by six smaller ones that could be its offspring.
S/ Person who filmed wild boars / I wondered what they were, got my camera ready and approached them, and they turned out to be a family of wild boars. They weren’t dogs or raccoon dogs. At first, I thought they might be bears, but when I got closer, I saw that they were wild boars, and a family at that, so that was surprising.
In recent years, sightings of wild boars in Aomori Prefecture have been rising, along with incidences of damage to crops.
The prefectural government is working on catching wild boars to control their population.
