Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako met with visiting King Frederik X of Denmark in Tokyo on April 25.

The three had dinner together at the Imperial couple’s residence.

Emperor Naruhito’s daughter Princess Aiko also joined in the after-dinner chat.

King Frederik, who attended Denmark's National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai on April 24, has had a long relationship with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako.

The Emperor attended the King’s wedding in 2004.

He also visited Denmark in 2017 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. 

The King and Queen of Denmark also visited Japan in 2017 and attended Emperor Naruhito’s enthronement ceremony in 2019.
