McDonalds sets a strict purchase limit on Pokemon happy meals
McDonald’s Japan set a stricter purchase limit of three happy meal sets per group for the second launch of its Pokemon collaboration.
The cap will be enforced starting August 15 for the first three days of the seven-day event.
The new limit contrasts the five sets per person rule of the first launch that saw abandoned meals and unauthorized resales on online marketplaces.
The first launch included Pokemon cards in addition to a toy, and many stores ran out of the inclusion on the first day due to bulk purchases.
McDonald’s Japan said they imposed the strict limit because the toys may face the same risk of bulk purchases and resales that are becoming a persistent problem for the fast-food chain.
