Bear break-ins cause concern as summer holidays begin

This footage was filmed by a viewer on July 29 at around 2PM.
A bear was swimming in a pond and ran across the lawn.
This was filmed at a golf course in Chitose, Hokkaido approximately 400 meters from a residential area.
Guests were golfing at the time, but they all safely evacuated inside a building.
Afterwards, the bear could not be found, and police are cautioning those in the area.
In a different area of Hokkaido, a bear was filmed attacking a deer on July 27.
Witness/ A bear grabbed a live deer and is dragging it towards the mountain.
According to police, the bear was about 1 meter in length.
Another bear was seen in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture.
Resident/ I think I’ll live in anxiety and caution for a while.
The Hanamaki resident expressed their concern.
He ran into the bear in his kitchen when he went in to make dinner on July 28.
Resident/ It was scary because it looked like the bear suddenly came into the house and trashed it.
The bear appeared to enter the kitchen from an open window.
It left through the window it seemed to enter through after the resident made noises with the door.
No one was injured.
The city and local hunting association set up a trap that evening.
The trap went off early on the following morning, and a male bear around 1.2 meters long was exterminated.
Bear sightings continued in neighboring Aomori Prefecture as well.
City Employee/ The gymnasium manager witnessed a bear entering the building. One bear around one meter in length.
On July 28 afternoon, a manager saw a bear entering a gymnasium in Mutsu, Aomori Prefecture.
The police came to assess the situation and checked inside the building alongside city employees but did not see the bear.
However, a bear was later seen about 200 meters from the gymnasium near a temple and barber shop storage.
