Emperor Naruhito attended an event on water and disasters on March 5.

The emperor, who considers water-related issues his lifework, was honorary president of the United Nations' Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation from 2007 to 2015.

Experts from around the globe gathered to discuss the importance of international cooperation and partnerships to solve various water-related problems in the event that took place in Tokyo on March 5.

Emperor Naruhito listened to the speakers and applauded them after each presentation.

He later spoke with experts and said that the sessions were very informative, and that he would like to continue having interest in water.
