S/ Cherry blossom viewer / It's a relief that it fell in that direction and didn't result in a serious accident.
Chiyoda Ward officials said the tree likely fell due to rain and strong winds on the night of April 1, as it appears to have snapped at the root.
A cherry blossom festival is currently underway along the promenade.
Boats are still available for use in the moat, but part of the water area has been sectioned off due to the fallen tree, and staff are urging visitors to exercise caution.
