Bear charges at moving car, university cancels classes after bear sightings in northern Japan

Captured on camera was a bear staring at a moving car in Minamifurano, Hokkaido.

The next moment, the bear charged toward the vehicle.

A man said he instinctively started filming when he spotted the bear while on his way to go fishing on May 26.

He said the footage got shaky because he became startled when the animal began charging toward him.

The bear is estimated to be about 1.5 to 2 meters in length.

The threat of bears was also felt in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture.

On the morning of May 28, there were a series of bear sightings on sidewalks near a university and in the parking lot of a housing complex for public officials.

Classes were canceled for the day at Tohoku Institute of Technology's Nagamachi campus after a bear measuring about 1 meter in length was spotted nearby.
